Certified safety nets (BS EN 1263:1 2002) and related fittings for installation.
Safety nets, also known as fall arrest safety nets or personnel safety netting, are recognised by the UK Health & Safety Executive as their 'preferred method of fall arrest when working at height.'
Safety nets arrest a person's fall by catching and absorbing the energy from the falling individual, therefore reducing injuries or casualties. When used in conjunction with fine mesh netting, these nets are also effective at catching tools, debris, or smaller items.
These nets are widely used in the construction industry for working at heights, including:
• Exposed suspension works (e.g., bridges)
• Construction sites
• Warehouses
Unlike PPE (which can be restrictive), safety nets allow workers to move freely. Nets should be positioned as close as possible to workers, with a maximum fall height of 2m.
All our safety nets comply with BS EN 1263:1 2002 and come with a Certificate of Conformity.
• Once a safety net arrests a fall, it must be replaced.
• Regular inspections must be conducted by a competent person.
• Damaged or worn nets must be discarded.
• Nets come with three test patches for annual UV degradation testing. Once the test patches run out, the entire net must be tested.
• BS EN 1263-1 outlines safety requirements and test methods.
• By law, fall protection must be in place when working at height.
